The Absalom Reconing

The Absalom Reconing

The Absalom calendar has 364 days divided among 52 months. Each month has 30 days.

In our interpretation the calendar year starts at the winter solstice which is always a Moonday. This day is then followed by the three winter months Kuthoa, Abadius and Calistril.
Then comes the vernal equinox, followed by the three months of spring Pharast, Gozran and Desnus.
Then comes the summer solstice and the summer months Sarenith, Erastus and Arodus.
And finaly comes the autumnal equinox and the months of fall, Rova Lamashan and Neth.

The solstices and equinoxes are not placed in any month, but rather between months.

According to the Absalom calendar, however, the year begins on the first day of Abadius.

For astronomical reasons a leap day is included every 8 years. Like solstices and equinoxes this day is not part of any month but lies between Kuthoa and Abadius.

In golarion the days of the week are named Moonday, Toilday, Wealday, Oathday, Fireday, Starday and Sunday. All days except for Sunday are characterized as workingdays. With Sunday being not only a resting day but also a day reserved for religious and spiritual contemplation.

Likewise Moonday eves are also spent atending religious services.
Oathday is a day of particular interest as all contracts, pacts, and oaths are made on that day. Fireday is also commonly held as the Market day.

The year The Rise of the Rune Lords starts is the year 4708 AR. On the day of the autumnal equinox, which also corresponds with the day of the Godess Desna, the Swallowtail Festival, which marks the end of the summer.
